The aim of the research group is to study the formation of colloidal systems: surfactants, amulsions, microemulsions, nanoemulsions, dispersed systems, sol-gel techniques, study of hydrogels and oleogels, rheological studies and encapsulation techniques.
The Colloidal Systems Engineering Group was founded more than 20 years ago. During this time, the research has always been linked to the world of the colloids and has participated in numerous projects funded by public calls, five of them at the European Union. In recent years the group has participated in different projects of the Ministry such as: Obtaining Meso/Macroporous Structures from Highly Concentrated Emulsions: Scaling and Application in Food Technology (CTQ2008-06892-C03-03/PPQ). Self-aggregation technologies of amphiphilic compounds for applications in functional food and cosmetics (CTQ2011-29336-C03-02). Strategies for the formation and stabilisation of water-in-water emulsions for innovative pharmaceutical and food applications (CTQ2016-80645-R). The group also collaborates with other national (CSIC) and international research groups, specifically with researchers from Peru. The group has carried out different stays in research centres such as Biological Systems Engineering Department (Center for nonthermal processing of Food.(2002,1998,1997,1996). Washington State University, Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences. North Carolina State University (2002.1992), Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Colorado State University. Fort Collins (2013).

She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Barcelona since 1987 and has been a lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the same university since 1995. She is a researcher at the Colloidal Systems Engineering Group and a member of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety at the University of Barcelona. His research focuses on the formation and stabilisation of colloidal systems and he has published more than 55 papers as a result of his research. She has presented more than 150 communications at national and international conferences and has supervised 8 doctoral theses.
She has been PhD coordinator from 1998 to 2021 of the following doctoral programmes: Chemical Engineering, Interuniversity Programme on Interfaces and Colloids, and Engineering and Applied Sciences. Erasmus Coordinator of the Faculty of Chemistry from 2008 to 2021. She is currently Vice-Dean of Mobility and External Relations at the Faculty of Chemistry. She has been secretary of the Mediterranean Congress of Chemical Engineering from 1996 to 2014 and secretary of the Organizing Committee of the International Conference on Surfactants in Solution (SIS) in 2002. She is a member of the nanotechnology working group of the Spanish Food Safety Agency (AESAN).
His teaching career is linked to the University of Barcelona, teaching in the degrees of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Food Science and Technology. He participates in the Erasmus-Mundus Master (ChIR) of the Faculty of Chemistry. He is a member of the working group on chemical engineering education of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE). In 2001, together with other professors from the Faculty, she set up the teaching activity ‘Fem Química al Laboratori’ for secondary school students. She has coordinated the Chemistry
