This year Dr. Claudia Mardones, from the University of Concepción (Chile), is expected to present the results of systematic studies of the beneficial effect of calafate consumption; chemical characterization, and in vitro and in vivo assays done with this berry full of antioxidants, which grows mainly in the Chilean and Argentine Patagonia.
