It is a pleasure to announce the III Annual Workshop INSA-UB on "Health of Microbiota: prebiotics and probiotics in animal and human nutrition", which was held at Food and Nutrition Torribera Campus (University of Barcelona), Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Barcelona, Spain, on 16th of November 2017 .

The objective of this Workshop is to share and update the most recent and polemic knowledge related to the topic of the present year. It is also an opportunity for the members of the Institute to divulge their own research. In order to strengthten the knowledge on this field, students, researchers and companies were welcome.

Scientific conferences were focused on different aspects of microbiota and the influence of prebiotics and probiotics on it. Poster presentations and oral communications included a broader range of research fields, always around disciplines related to nutrition and food safety and the main subject, when possible.
